Making Money Selling On Ebay

We all know Ebay attracts a huge number of buyers and that’s what makes it a great place to market. However, the fees are getting higher and higher, and the truth is that Ebay does not care about your financial success.  Making money selling on Ebay is great for some people, but too troublesome for a lot of experienced internet marketers.

So I’m going to suggest you use them to make fast money, gain recognition, and build your customer base.   Even if you decide to run a full time Ebay business and be a Power Seller, be careful not to get too dependant on them – their fees will make a huge dent in your profits and they could screw you over at any time.

Later on I'll teach you how to keep your own customers in case Ebay one day puts you out of your auction business.  For now, this is how to make money selling on Ebay.

 My Best Ebay Selling Tips:

If you’re new to selling, you can learn how to be a seller right on Ebay’s website.   I won't waste your time by listing any really basic advice here.   These are powerful techniques that will increase your website traffic and sales on Ebay .

  • Include a link to your store or other Ebay items in each auction.   If a customer is already in that "buying" mode they're much more likely to buy multiple items.

  • Take a good picture!   Make sure your item is clean and use a nicely colored bed sheet or poster board as your background.   Many new sellers lose out on big profits by taking bad pictures.

  • Want more exposure for an item that might not sell?   List your item as a 3 day auction, then if it has no bids, go to your auction AT LEAST 12 hours before your item is ending and revise your item to make it a 7 day auction.   Since your auction is seen most on the day it’s ending, it’s almost like getting double the exposure for free.

  • Don’t ever list your item to end in the morning or middle of the day.   Make your auctions end on weekends and nights.   Sunday night is rumored to be the best ending time, but since everyone knows this, you'll have a lot of auctions to compete with.   I find that listing on any night will bring roughly the same amount of bids.

  • Include a “watch this item” link if you want to make the Ebay pulse and gain a lot more exposure.  This is the HTML to use for a watch code:  http://cgi1.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MakeTrack&item=xxxxxxxxxxxx&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:middle:us  – replace the row of x's with your Ebay item number.  You simply insert the HTML where you want it to appear in your auction description.  Inserting the item number for every auction can get tedious, but on higher prices items it's worth the effort.
