Website Promotion Tips

Getting your site up is one part of the equation, and getting it noticed is the second part.  Use these website promotion tips to got noticed by potential customers.

  • Do a Press Release if you have something newsworthy to announce. No one is going to be interested in you press release just because you put up a website. This idea works best if your website is somehow involved with a charity.

  • Submit to website directories. The directories won’t bring you much traffic, but the in pointing links (also known as back links) from quality sites will boost your search engine rankings.

  • Approach website owners to exchange links. Never link to a low quality site. Search engines like when you link to high quality sites, but penalize you for linking to rubbish sites. Avoid all FFAs (Free For All Classified Sites) and link farms at all costs.

  • Submit to   Ask.com   . They don’t regularly accept submissions, but if you have a webpage that answers a specific question, feel free to point it out to Ask.com by emailing them at  url@ask.com   .

  • Submit to   About.com   . About is divided into broad categories that are assigned guides. Not all categories have a guide, however. If your website fits into one of the categories on About.com (which it should) you can submit an article or two to your guide, and ask them to publish it on their website. If it is published, you've just earned yourself a ton of new visitors and a quality back link!

  • Use Ebay    or other auctions sites to find new customers. The trick is to stay in touch with them after the purchase. This can be accomplished by thanking them and adding them to your mailing list (which I’ll tell you about later in this ebook.) Some people use the power of Ebay mainly to build their list, which they can sell to later.

  • Continuously add content – the search engines love content and lots of it. Try to add something everyday (or as often as you can) but never add 30 new articles at one time. This doesn't go over well with the search engines.

  • Use an RSS feed or blog – these are indexed by search engines more quickly than webpages are. Make the blog a part of your website or link to your blog from your website. Make sure your blog includes lots of links to your website also. Go to   Wordpress   or Blogger   to sign up for a free search engine friendly blog.

  • Use a statistics program! I can't stress this enough. You need to know what direction your business is going in, so educate yourself and sign up with Web Stats. It's a measly $5 a month and your continued success depends on it. Whenever you make a change to your website, check with the Web Stats to see how it affected your search engine optimization.

  • Write articles and submit them to article directories. I have a list of the best article directories  here   . This will continue to bring you traffic for years to come. The more articles you write, the better. This is free viral traffic for life. When writing articles, don't forget to use the strategies you use when writing sales copies. Capture the reader's attention with a great title and don't bore them with bland writing or useless information.

The more relevant content and in-pointing links you have, the better the search engines will rank you. Work on these two points and you'll have a successful website to be proud of.
